Seriously Most 9o’s Saab on Cl are between 600 and 1500 bucks. Pic for proof. This is why I am afraid of owning one.

I don’t know about their reliability, but if I recall correctly, the amount of crash-preventative bracing compromises easy access to the engine.

Then again, I’m afraid to do any work on my transverse-mounted V6 crammed into the smallest engine bay possible, so there’s that.

they really arent that bad. I dont get why they are so cheap.
the 2.3L can be turned into a MONSTER of a motor, and they have VERY low drag co-efficients. you only need 400HP to make the 9-5 in the photo a 200MPH car.
you can find parts online if you know where to look, and working on them is no harder then a BMW or merc of the same vintage.
Though to SID unit will alkways pixilate. ALWAYS

Probably because the Saab dealer network disappeared.

Tiny hands help. And patience. And metric everything. But its doable. The worst is doing anything on the accessory drive. On the 9-5 there is an idler pulley that can only be replaced with the engine halfway out else there isn’t enough room to pull the bolt out.

Its sad that they went belly up. They really were nice cool cars.
Yes they had tiny engine bays, the B235 like to sludge, and anything with a pixel display would disappear after a few years, but they were comfortable, fast, and if you’re creative decently tuneable, esp T5 and T7 engines
